Super Duper Oatmeal

Serves 2


  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup oats (Try Speerville)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons wheat germ
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup walnuts


Bring the milk and water to a boil in a pot. Mix in the oats, and reduce heat to medium. Stir in blueberries, applesauce, wheat germ, cinnamon, and sugar. Cook 8 to 10 minutes, or until oats are tender. Top it off with walnuts to add protein and some crunch!

  1. Oatmeal is a great way to ease into your day, with lots of grounded energy. Try substituting the sugar for local honey, the walnuts for local hazelnuts, and if milk and wheat aren’t your thing just skip it. You’d be surprised how creamy oats are without any milk, just add extra water. It’s local too!
