Open Farm Day

What is Open Farm Day?OFD_logo

Open Farm Day is a province wide event on September 20th that allows participating Nova Scotia farmers to open their doors to members of their community. Open Farm Day is an educational experience, a family event, and a fantastic opportunity to learn about agriculture. The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture is giving you a backstage pass to meet your farmer, and really see where your local food comes from!

Join Us For a Live Twitter Chat!

Each September, Open Farm Day invites the public to visit more than 40 local farms with their family and friends. To help kick off this year’s event, Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture will hold a one-hour twitter chat with some of the participating farms to give you a virtual taste of what to expect this year. Join us on September 19th for an online twitter panel. Ask questions, learn more about local food, and get to know two passionate local farmers.

Join us live September 19th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM by following along with the #OpenFarmDay hashtag. You can also submit a question for our farmers using #OpenFarmDay. We’ll select from your questions for our hour-long chat.

This chat is a lead up to Open Farm Day on September 20th. For more information on the participating farms, locations, and times, visit: http://www.meetyourfarmer.ca/openfarmday/
